The Meldalbunad was launched in 1952 based on some preserved bunads from the 1800s. The bodice of this bunad can be in green or red and has previously been made in several different fabrics. The skirt is in blue or black wool fabric, while the apron can be in black damask or white linen. Cotton can also be used. The belt has embroidered biblical motifs and has two to three buckles at the front. The bunad has a headdress that separates married and unmarried people, as well as a purse. Both the cape and shirt are made in the same fabric as the skirt.
