Sognebunad men
The bunad silver you need is:
- Cufflinks
- Neck pin/neck button
- Suspender buckles
- 13 buttons for the trousers (5 of which are for the flap on the trousers)
- 10-14 buttons for the vest (check with your tailor for the exact number as there are both single and double-breasted vests)
- One pair of knee buckles
- Shoe buckles, a bunad knife and watch with a watch chain complete the bunad
The men's bunad from Sogn came into use in the early 1900s. It is based on bunad material from the first part of the 19th century. Today's bunad is called "Steglatrøya", and is made of white fulled woolen cloth with black velvet edges. The picture shows the reconstructed Sognebunad in red. Breeches are used for both models.
