Here you will find other brooches - including those that are not so well known, but still have their historical place on the bunad.
Rose brooches dates back to the 14th century. It comes in many different varieties. Some of the rose brooches will be as shown in the picture and some will be without the outermost ring, i.e. there is nothing "framing" the brooch. The rose brooches have a medieval shape that has remained unchanged until our time. It has 6 open kidney- or heart-shaped figures set together in a ring and is handmade from filigree or cast. There is also a lot of other bunad silver that is so special, rare or peculiar to just one or a few bunads that we have placed it under "other silver". This does not mean that the bunad silver or silver is less important, often quite the opposite.
