Horn rings

The horn ring is named after the "horns" on either side of the pin. These horns were meant to illustrate ox horns, a very masculine symbol. Therefore, the horn ring was previously only used as a man's brooch. But not anymore; as the years have gone by, women have started to use the horn ring more and more. Especially in Telemark, it was often the case that the bunad silver was not complete without it. In the case of the ladies, they were often adorned even more; and were thus transformed into a barley grain ring or even a bøheradsring.
