The bunad silver you need is:
- Neck button
- Cufflinks
- 10 buttons for the vest
- 12 buttons for the front of the coat
- 2 buttons for the flaps on the back of the coat
- 11 buttons for the breeches (always check with your tailor how many you need, as it can vary)
- Knee buckles for breeches
- Shoe buckles, a knife and a watch with a watch chain complete the bunad
The bunad is based on what it was assumed men's fashion was like at the end of the 19th century. The bunads from the area are quite similar and therefore a separate bunad was not made for Fitjar as the costume custom there is the same as on Stord and Bømlo. The double-breasted coat, called the "Laska" coat, is black cloth and is made in two lengths. One uses a red vest and black breeches, white shirt and knee stockings with a patterned lace. The head garment is a patterned knit cap, and in the neck, one may wear a silk neckerchief.
