The bunad silver you need is:
- Neck button
- Cufflinks
- Horn ring or cross tooth fastener
- 14 small buttons for the vest
- 14 large buttons for the coat
- 14 small and 5 large buttons for the breeches
- 5 large buttons for long trousers
- Shoe buckles, bunad knife, knife button and watch with a watch chain complete the bunad
The initiative to create this bunad came from the "leikaring" in Krødsherad in the 1970s. They first copied both the vest and knee breeches. The shirt and long trousers came somewhat later. Different tailors have their own variations on the bunad, whether it's the stitching or the number of buttons. Always check with your tailor about the number of buttons. Work continues on reconstructing older costumes.
