Voss bridal bunad
The bunad silver you need is:
- Neck pin
- Glibb brooch
- Cufflinks
- Agnus dei with wide chain (valleys with wide chain)
- Bore pins (can have up to 6 pairs of bore pins on the bridal bunad)
- Belt buckle
- Gilded silver plaques for the belt
- Shoe buckles, costume ring, earrings and pocket watch complete the costume
For many years, the bunad tradition in Voss has been very strong and the variations on shirt, apron, belt and cloth often had a personal touch. Today, the variations are not so great, but there is still a distinction between married and unmarried women.
The bridal tunic is quite similar to the wife's tunic from Voss, but has a black shirt instead of a bodice. The bride can use her own apron, handkerchief and silver. A separate headdress has been prepared that is decorated with pearls and silver. The bride also replaces the pearl belt with a studded belt on the big day.
